My business is for sale:

Also:

I'm also looking to sell some or all of my "in house" manufactured parts that I make in my shop to someone who might be like me and likes making things. This is one of those products. To buy my business is a large endeavor. But if you work a full time job or are retired and want to take on my manufactured parts or some of my manufactured parts let me know.

A nice sideline for an ambitious person.

OUT OF STOCK.

Most likely I will not be making any more of these.

Introducing the Fiero Hurst Shifter.

Upgrade your shifter to a Fiero Hurst shifter.

Specifically made to fit the Pontiac Fiero this Hurst shifter gives the muscle car image some desire.

  • Easy to install.
  • Fits all 4 and 5 speed Pontiac Fieros.
  • Includes a Leather Shifter Boot that is glued to a laser cut steel frame with 4 threaded studs.
  • Boot includes 4 nylock nuts and washers.
  • Includes a 1 3/4" black shift knob. The 1 3/4" fits the interior size of the Fiero. The standard 2" shift knobs look oversized in the small interior of a Fiero.

Now with an upgraded shifter knob:

The Hurst shifter is the tallest of my shifters. I now machine the knobs deeper so the knob screws on farther dropping the height of the Hurst shifter 5/8". This greatly improves the look of a Hurst shifter in a Fiero.

The thread size is the standard Hurst shifter:  3/8" x 16.

Caution: Do not try a Hurst shifter knob if you want a knob with a shift pattern in it. They are over 2" in diameter and look odd and oversized in the small interior of a Fiero.

Here is a 4 speed knob that looks like a good choice. 1 7/8" diameter.

If someone finds a nice 5 speed knob let me know and I'll add it here.

I now use knobs that have a brass insert. I drill and tap them deeper and then counterbore the hole some. The advantage of using a knob with a brass insert is when you screw the black knob on the Hurst Shifter the brass insert hits the tappered area under the threads locking it in place and eliminating the need for a lock nut.

Now 5/8" lower.

I have the knob available separate if you want to upgrade your Hurst shifter.

Here are the shifters I offer and how they compare heightwise: :

Hurst Shifter (on the left), Sport Shifter, Comp II Shifter and the Comp Shifter.

The Comp shifter can be shorthened about 3/4" lower because the threads are long. You can saw any amount off up to 3/4".

How tall is the Hurst shifter?

Many of you thru the years have asked how tall is the Hurst Shifter compared to the stock GM Fiero shifters. GM made several different shifter arms thru the 84-88 Fiero production run so there is no simple single answer to this question. Here are two 85-88 shifter arms that I have showing them compared to the Hurst Shifter.

Overall I would say the Hurst Shifter is about 1" to 1 1/2" shorther than most of the 85-88 factory shifter arms (84 not included. The 84 four speed shifter arm was shorter than the 85-88's).

SHIPPING NOTE:

I do not offer free shipping.

Because I use postal flat rate boxes for heavy orders there is no program that can add the proper amount of shipping to every order. So all shipping is added manually by myself after you place your order. That is explained here: Shipping added later explanation

When you place an order the shipping amount will show $0.00. Soon after you place an order you will receive an email confirmation that shows the amount of shipping that was added to your order.

Shipping:

Shipping in the USA: $12.00 Priority Mail (Midwest USA)

Final shipping cost is determined by weight of the item(s) and distance from Milwaukee, WI. Shipping prices quoted are for items shipped to the Midwest area in the USA. If you are ordering a single item or multiple items the total shipping price is determined after you place the order. I try to keep my shipping prices to a minimum and use Postal Flat Rate boxes whenever I can utilize them for an order.

Shipping to areas outside of the USA: Generally I ship postal air first class mail. Shipping varies depending on what country they are going to. It ranges from $18.25 to Canada to $27 or more to Australia etc.
