Rear Decklid Nitrogen Strut Kits

$59.95

My business is for sale:

http://rodneydickman.com/product_info.php?products_id=542

Also:

I'm also looking to sell some or all of my "in house" manufactured parts that I make in my shop to someone who might be like me and likes making things. This is one of those products. To buy my business is a large endeavor. But if you work a full time job or are retired and want to take on my manufactured parts or some of my manufactured parts let me know.

A nice sideline for an ambitious person.

Just an FYI:  I am not looking to make more of these kits. I have a certain quntity on hand in different variations. As they sell out I will note that variation is no longer avalable.

Does the rear decklid on your Fiero fail to stay up?

Have you taken the springs out for an engine change?

Have you added a wing and the lid won't stay up?

Rear Decklid bolt on gas strut kits are easy to install! Your rear deck lid will stay up even on windy days! No more prop rods!

Single Strut Kit 1984-1987 Coupe

Assists/replaces the stock springs.
(Single Strut Kit will support the decklid WITH the torsion bars removed.)

1986 with Single Strut Kit

1986-1987 Fiero GT Singe Strut Kit

1984-1987 Fiero Coupes: The model requires two holes to be drilled in the bracket that supports the driver's side louver. Bolts and washers are stainless steel.

1986-1987 Fiero GT: This model is a direct bolt in and can be installed in about 10 minutes. No drilling necessary. Bolts and washers are also stainless steel. (1986 GT shown in picture)

1988 Fiero Coupe, Formula and GT: This model is a direct bolt in and can be installed in about 10 minutes. No drilling necessary. Bolts and washers are stainless steel.

Dual Strut Kits: For a Balanced Look

These kits are the same as the above kits but two struts are required and are mounted one on each side. They also require the use of a much higher pressure strut because of the removal of the factory springs. On the 1984-1987 kits, an extra bolt needs to be added and an extra hole needs to be drilled and tapped into the shock tower under the louver bracket for added strength. (1988 GT shown below with Dual Struts)

Looking for a picture for here. With the update of my web page I lost some pictures. If you have one you can offer let me know and I'll put it here.

84-87 Coupe Dual Strut Kit 1988 Fiero GT or 1988 Fiero Formula/Coupe Dual Strut Kit Installed

All kits include all necessary bolts and brackets to install them. All bolts and washers are stainless steel. Brackets are painted black and are made of cold rolled steel. Detailed instructions included.

Note: When ordering please include a brief description on why you need a lift kit. I use varying pressures depending on the application. Also remember to include the year and model!

308 kit cars, 328 kit cars, 87/88 Pontiac Mera:  Easy to install in your 308 kit, 328 kit or 87/88 Mera. Removal of the original factory springs is required. This is available in a dual kit only. Includes strengthening bars from the shock tower to the hinges. Click here for more info.

Replacement gas struts now available: Like any gas filled lift cylinder they do loose their pressure over time. I now offer replacement gas struts. These replacement gas struts include the lower plastic attaching piece and the upper stainless steel collar. You will reuse the original stainless steel bolt from your old Rodney Dickman strut along with the 2 washers and the inner spacer. These are a direct replacement for one of my old gas struts. Click here for replacement struts.

Some strut kits are machined and assembled when ordered, so please allow a few extra days for your order to ship. Most strut kits are generally in stock and ready to ship.

Note: When ordering please include a brief description on why you need a lift kit. I use varying pressures depending on the application.

NOTE:   For those who have done an engine change V-8 etc - In most cases there is generally not enough room on the passenger side for a gas strut. Most non stock engines have something in the way. In those cases you will only be able to use a single strut on the driver's side. A single gas strut works just fine even if you have removed both springs. For this type of application I use a high pressure strut. If you have any questions please contact me at rodney@rodneydickman.com

Remember to let me know why you need this kit(s):

Added a wing? Deck lid falls down, removed the factory springs etc.

Add it to the notes area on your order.

I have strut kits for any application. Factory rear deck lid springs left in place, factory rear deck lid springs removed etc.

Here is how some with engine conversions have modified their rear deck lid to accept a rear strut:

If you have cut the rib for clearance this might work for you. If you order a kit and install it like this it is up to you to make the steel plate and make sure it fits. The top bolt has to be far enough away (forward when the lid is closed) so when the deck lid is closed the strut compresses and does not bottom out. Multiple bolts should be installed in that steel plate to spread the load over a large area.

My suggestion:

Oil your hinge pins. They tend to rust and if the hinge pins rust too much they will seize and break. They are hardened steel and impossible to repair once they have seized and sheared off.
