My business is for sale:

I have not found anyone to take over my business. So:

We built a home in Denver. A 55+ community. We have had it for two years now. We go there for a week every two months or so. But we are not happy there. The lot size is minuscule and I only have a smallish 3 car garage. So we are selling it and looking for a different home in the Denver area. An existing home. We do not want to go thru a new build again. We both want a larger yard and most important is I want more garage space. All my life I have been a garage person and I like to make things etc. Ideally we will find a home where I can add on to the existing garage or put in an additional garage. So my plan now is to take my business to Denver.   But: I am not making much of anything anymore in my shop here. I am also not restocking many items. You may have noticed some of my parts are out of stock now. That trend will continue. Once in Denver I will probably just sell out my existing stock and as I run out of things discontinue them. Hopefully this all happens in 2024. Once we start moving out of our home here in Wi there will be a few/several months when I will not be able to sell anything.

Rear Deck Lid Replacement Strap Kit:

Replace your broken rear deck lid straps!

These kits allow you to replace the rear deck lid limit straps. The hinge assemblies have to be removed to install these straps. The original rivet/fastener will need to be drilled out and the new rivet and cable installed and swegged from the back side. The new rivets are 304 stainless steel.

There are 2 variations of rear deck lid hinges. One variation is where the lower bracket is made of thicker steel and the other variation is where the lower bracket is the same thickness as the upper bracket and has welded in reinforcements. The thicker lower bracket requires a longer rivet. The thin style has brackets that are both equal in thickness so both rivets are the same in length. The pictures below show how to tell them apart. The thick style has the small opening. The thin style has the large opening.

Be sure to order the correct kit to fit your hinges!

Stainless Steel Hinge Rivet

           Thin Lower

304 Stainless steel

Sold in pairs. Includes the four rivets.

*Make sure you order the correct kit to match your hinges.

Tips on how to install them:

Put a center punch mark in the center of the factory rivet Start with a small drill bit like 1/8". Drill in about 1/4". Then go to a lager drill bit. Around .180" - .190". Do not go too large as you might drill into the hinge steel. Hammer out the rivet using a small drift.

Once all the old rivets have been removed install the new cable and new rivets. This is a two person job. One person has to hold the hinge while the other hammers on the rivet with the drift. Lay the hinge on the anvil of a work bench vice. Use a large drift and hammer. Go at a slight angle and walk around the edge of the rivet util it is well peened over.

Shipping:    Shipping in the USA via a small postal flat rate box for $8.50

Final shipping cost is determined by weight of the item(s) and distance from Milwaukee, WI. Shipping prices quoted are for items shipped to the Midwest area in the USA. If you are ordering a single item or multiple items the total shipping price is determined after you place the order. I try to keep my shipping prices to a minimum and use Postal Flat Rate boxes whenever I can utilize them for an order.

Shipping to areas outside of the USA: Generally I ship postal air first class mail. Shipping varies depending on what country they are going to. It ranges from $18.25 to Canada to $24 or more to Australia etc.
