The Cost Effective Way To Lower Your 84-87 Pontiac Fiero by ½ inch!
If you have installed lowering springs and want just a little more drop this is an excellent way to achive that. My lowering balljoints allow you to lower the front of your Fiero by ½ inch easily.
These lowering ball joints should be be tack welded to the lower control arms.
These ½" lowering ball joints will only work with 15" or larger rims. They have been proven to work with the factory 15" rims. They may or may not hit the inner lip with 15" or larger aftermarket rims. This will depend on the design of the rim and backspacing. If you have clearance problems the lower control arms may need to be modified slightly for clearance. If you use these combined with lowering springs the clearance concerns between the lower control arm and the inner lip of the rim will be greater. At full turn and full compression of the front springs the lower control arm may hit the inner edge of the lip. This is less likely to happen if you have 16" or larger rims.
The stock factory sway bar ends links seem to work just fine with the drop ball joints in the 84-87 Fieros. There should be no need to install longer end links. If you feel you need longer end links most auto parts store stock longer end links. Also try my new Zero Lash End Links.
|How they work
||New Lowering Balljoint on Left. OEM Balljoint On Right.
You will need to use adjustable upper ball joints and increase the movement some when using these 1 inch lowering ball joints.
You may need to elongate the upper control arms some:
|File or grind the large opening and bolt holes inwards.
||As you move the ball joint inwards it hits the bent steel area of the upper control arms. If necessary - grind some off the leading edges of the ball joints.
This is easy to do. You may not have to go as far as I did in the pictures below. I went farther to show what they look like elongated.
Receive 10% off on any purchase of 4 or more tie rods and/or ball joints (any combination). For any order of 4 or more ball joints and/or tie rods I will deduct 10% off all the ball joints and tie rods in that order.
Note: You may have noticed that many auto parts suppliers and others have reduced their prices on ball joints and tie rods recently. This is because they are now selling made in (mainland) China ball joints and tie rods. All my ball joints and tie rods are made in Taiwan. Their quality is well proven. I will continue to sell made in Taiwan ball joints and tie rod ends only.

NEW! I now include a piece of PVC tube with each lower ball joint order. To install the rubber boot on the lower ball joint you need to press/hammer the rubber boot on. The rubber boot has an internal steel ring. Once the ball joint is installed on the swing arm just use a hammer and tap the rubber boot on using the PVC tube as shown in the pictures below.
Tip to install the rubber boot. Use a 1 1/2" piece of PVC pipe. Fits perfect.
NOTE: You may have noticed many ball joints and tie rods being sold today no longer have castle nuts and cotter pins. They often times now have nylock nuts. I, for one, would not want a ball joint or tie rod that has nylock nuts on any of my vehicles. All my ball joints and tie rods have castle nuts and cotter pins.
I do not offer free shipping.
Because I use postal flat rate boxes for heavy orders there is no program that can add the proper amount of shipping to every order. So all shipping is added manually by myself after you place your order. That is explained here: Shipping added later explanation
When you place an order the shipping amount will show $0.00. Soon after you place an order you will receive an email confirmation that shows the amount of shipping that was added to your order.
Shipping: $9.00 (Midwest USA) One pair lowering ball joints
Shipping Note: Shipping cost depends on how much the total order weighs and distance shipped. Once the weight and distances reaches a certain amount I ship these in a USPS Flat Rate box. Shipping for these flat rate boxes starts at $14.50 (USA). I can fit many ball joints and tie rods in one flat rate box along with other items.
Final shipping cost is determined by weight of the item(s) and distance from Milwaukee, WI. Shipping prices quoted are for items shipped to the Midwest area in the USA. If you are ordering a single item or multiple items the total shipping price is determined after you place the order. I try to keep my shipping prices to a minimum and use Postal Flat Rate boxes whenever I can utilize them for an order.
