Ground the two black wires:
Cut the long black wire to match the short black wire. Crimp a small eyelet on both wires and also solder them on.
Attach them to one of the holes the isolation relay was mounted to:
Do the grounds from the new controller:
Strip the two black ground wires coming from the new contoller. Crimp and solder on the last two large eyelets if you did not do this early one. Bolt them to the two radiator shroud bolts:
We used a tie wrap to hold the longer ground wire down as it first caught the headlight bucket.
Bolt the controller to the steel bracket with M5 Allen head bolts and nylock nuts:
Reinstall the drivers side headlight bucket:
At this time you can reinstall the drivers side headlight bucket. Install the two top nuts. Use the special tool to raise the headlight bucket to tighten the bottom nuts. Lower the headlight bucket using the special tool and tighten the top nuts.
Bolt the new controller to the headlight bucket using the two hole thick steel plate and the two M6 nylock nuts.
Use some of the dilectric grease on the inside of the pigtail. Plug the headlight pigtails together.
Use two tie wraps and tie wrap the headlight motor pigtail to the side of the controller:
Route the headlight bulb wire thru the opening and connect it to the headlight bulb. Put the loom back into the black plastic harness clip.
Final checks before reconnecting the battery:
Now check your work. Make sure the wire colors all match. Make sure no wires are in any place that they may get caught on a headlight bucket as it goes up and down. Tie wrap any wires as needed. Make sure you have removed all your tools etc.
Use the drill and special tool and slowly rasie and lower each headlight bucket while you look for any possible obstructions etc. As I pointed out early one do not hit the end of the travel hard or you might damage the hosuings internally. If necessary correct any problems at this time. Raise and lower them a couple times so you can be sure everything clears etc.
Make sure no one is near the headlight buckets. The headlights will move right away when the battery is connected.
With everyone away from the headlight buckets you can reconnect the battery. Push the headlight switch both ways to check the operation.
In all of my five installations I worried it would not work for some odd reason. But all five that I installed worked perfectly.
